Poems of Lighthouse Bob

The Social Network, BC

Before Computers
way before
when ham operators
ruled the world
so we thought
at twelve and thirteen
and two-way radios
not so normal
modified
with switchable crystals
and antennas
stretched on copper wire
could reach Mars
Motorola would be proud
with our scanners
tuning in on unknown frequencies
where cracks and crackles
turned to shrieks and jitters
when far away planets
somewhere
out there
spoke
and Beatles were on AM
so
we'd skip signals
into space
that they'd hear singing
like drunkards
sleep deprived
Let It Be
"let it pee"
into the wee
hours of morning
aliens
whispering words of wisdom.
