Sin

Let me take you to the dark side
I been up and down
on this roller coaster so many times I cried
The things you think you want so bad
Ain't what you thought they would be,
Struggling hard to get free but you slide...
Praying to God to come get me
out this deep dark hole, sin's exploiting my soul
On the center of my heart he rides
I'm struck in these invisible places,
Looking through imaginary faces
Empty stares without any hope
Mama I'm feeling dirty where's the soap?
The things you think you want so bad
Ain't what you thought they would be
The old and new activity
constantly making me bend my knee
I can hardly abide
Let me take you to the dark side
Just because you're walking around
doesn't mean you're alive
There's a million things in this world
that'll sip your soul away
Lord I have just enough strength
to making it through the day
Beauty and pleasure have their draw
When you're least expect it,
Strikes you with its paw,
Struggling hard to obey
Let me take you to the dark side
The harder you fight the further you slide
The things you think you want so bad
Ain't what you thought they would be,
It seems like I'm asking for forgiveness in vain
A repeat offender, daily crying out God's name
The dark side is full of shame
Let me take you to the dark side
Where the name
of every pretending angel ride
Presenting the perfect paradise to envision
Beautiful young virgins struggling with
mind altering decisions
A desperate road paved in time
Where death and destruction
crowned every weak man's mind
Where the only relief is in the eyes that care
Covered in sweat, strapped down in despair,
Fading dreams hanging on by a very small rope
If only I can live the beautiful life he wrote
Leave yourself a note, slippery slopes
always slide
Strong hearts can barely abide
