Poetic Verses
Landfill
This is something that we can so very easily accumulate
But how much time is spent to certainly sit and appreciate
That we are in some way creating a something of a problem
Which in years will have an impact on all areas in the nation?
There can be no doubt that this is always a bone of contention
When there is a debate in any sphere about a landfill location
One can observe that degree of picketing and very militant objection
If the chosen location is situated in an area near a upscale dominion
It very hard especially downwind to be inhaling that stench
And no matter what is tried locally seems this not to quench
As those bacteria continue that process of decomposition
Producing those very unpleasant smelling gases in the reaction
But as people we can say our contribution certainly set that stage
Because sometime we are very liberal in our generation of wastage
But somehow finds it to be a sort of deception and a bitter pill
When their area is selected for the construction of a landfill
But why should one see this to be some form of debacle
We in our fears do tend to overlook that growing potential
How about trying to make the aroma emanating more favorable
By adding to the area some form of reactive and pleasant smelling chemical
One of the main gases generated in the area is the one called methane
This could be by a further process converted to propane
This can be harnessed to be used to produced some form of energy
So that the operations of the area can be done by self-sufficiency
But we too as producers should try to be not the problem but the solution
And should temper many of our action by embarking on some form of education
So instead of just disposing, should make that effort to sort our garbage
Hence will take our fear of treatment, storage and disposal to a different stage?
