The great surprise of any life
Is the brevity of it.
Yesterday when we were young
We felt youth would never quit.
We never stopped to realize
We’re a dash between two dates…
That this dash is so much shorter
Than our conscience contemplates.
The Bible tells us we’re a mist
Appearing for a little while…
Then vanishes …and only faith
Can take us through this trial.
Eternity is always closer
Than we care to think about.
To put life in perspective
Is to push away all doubt
Nothing is more important
Than a relationship with Christ
This life is much too fragile
To reject His sacrifice.
The stakes are so much higher
Than we’re made to realize.
For we are not immortal
Every earthly person dies.
We sometimes plan tomorrow
Never knowing what it plans.
But if we belong to Jesus
Our tomorrow’s in His hands.
The dash of any lifetime
Should be a dash to dismiss sin…
To repent of all wrong doing…
To invite Christ Jesus in.
Let that little dash speak volumes
When it does apply to us…
Let those who read our epitaph
Know “In Jesus Christ We Trust.”

James 4: 13-14
“Now listen you who say “Today or tomorrow
we will go to this or that city, spend a year there,
carry on business and make money. Why, you do
not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little
while and then vanishes.”
2 Corinthians 6:2
For he says,
“In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor,
now is the day of salvation
