We are not weak

We ask for nothing
We simply want to give
We smile upon receivers
It's what makes us live

Gifts we share abandoned
No hope of their return
But deep inside our hearts
We feel the hunger burn

Do we give of ourselves completely
Or do we secretly want a prize
Do we seek the wonders
That we see in other's eyes

We offer hand to all
Even skin until we bleed
Maybe wishing
They can see
What it is we really need

Do we ask for gift so large
Only opened by the lucky few
Is it really
Something we are due

We may never see in eyes of others
What our heart seeks most of all
And may walk through a thousand doors
And not be noticed, never, not at all

This does not mean we are failures
It does not mean we are weak
We are just the bearers
Of the love we seek
