Goodbye Soldier

This poem is in memory of Lee Rigby, a British Soldier killed in a senseless unprovoked attack by two or three men on the streets of Britain.
Lee leaves behind a wife and young son. When will this senselessness stop?
Today the world says Goodbye to our fallen Hero, and I wrote this to show my respect.

Today I've seen so many union jacks,
Flown by those who want Lee Rigby back,
But today in sorrow we all unite,
To bid our hero one last 'goodnight.'

The world is hurting, in grief it weeps,
For our fallen hero who now sleeps,
In the arms of the angels his spirit  stays,
I'm sending his family all my love and prayers today.

Stand down now soldier your work is complete,
Amongst the rows of Hero's in heaven take your seat,
Where you'll always be remembered; with deepest respect,
Sleeping soldier l'est we forget.
