Days of past will court this day
The boy now man who wished he'd stayed
Young beyond at heart at times
Old with tales of once, of mine
We played our hand at simple things
The things that meant to us something
A simple time where innocence
Became adventure and suspense
Closing eyes we dwell to then
A place of worth and much of when
Our world was but a stepping stone
To Mars and back safely back home
Daylight ran out to night time sky
Years became deep heartfelt sighs
Returning now before goodbye
Becomes of us to stay, least try
Love came and called leaving a mark
A trail endless upon our heart
As years have now taken their toll
A careless whisper still needs be told
Grew up too soon yet ours wished for
Can't change the now to our before
As sentiment runs still in veins
Adult size now, deeper the pain
Back then we cried and sniffles came
To end our tears, back in the game
A bruise for now birthed black and blue
And scars became of nothing new
Our heart would come to love again
Knowing that hurt would come and spend
It's time to hold our hand adult size now
