Catching Raindrops

Sitting under the shining moon,
Thinking I'd better head in soon,
But for a few seconds I'll sit still,
Watching raindrops bounce off the windowsill.

I watch them race, no time to stop,
Beautiful colours magnified in every drop,
Splashing silently as they explode,
Together they chorus a Morse Code.

They gather in groups so none fall alone,
Like a family gathering together to head home,
When the sun comes up to dry the rain,
The drops form into clouds ready to race again.

I love to try and catch them in my hand,
To get a closer look as they land,
I watch in awe as they quickly settle,
Delicate as a flowers last petal.

Though they are the same they are unique,
They are natures words that it cannot speak,
Watering the flowers so the circle of life;
Can carry on spinning without strife.

We all want sunshine without the rain,
We all want smiles without any pain,
But to have the good we all must experience bad,
To appreciate being happy we must sometimes be sad.

I love the rain; followed by the sun,
To watch a rainbow in the sky sharing fun,
So on this night as the rain is falling,
I hear it telling me better times are calling.
