Life Story # 15

She is only 59 but she looks and feels 75
She used to keep herself up when her husband was alive
The things they planned to do, the places they would go
They thought they would grow old together but just didn't know
She never had a job, never really learned working skills
In fact until 2 years ago she didn't even pay the bills
He did it all and didn't bother her about a thing
Her love was his motivation, he called her his queen
When the kids were little she work around the clock
Making sure all needs were met, and they never stopped
But once the nest was empty, the chicks all gone away
She searches for some purpose, reason to rise today
No one ever comes around, no one ever calls
One day she just decided that she would end it all
She didn't want it painful, no suffering to last
So she decide to walk up and jump off the overpass
On the way see met this young man in a wheel chair
He was going the same direction so she helped him get there
As she pushed him up the hill he began to tell his tell
He had lost his mother as a child and him father wasn't well
Today was the first day he tried to get up the hill on his own
His father usually pushed him but this morning he wasn't home
By the time she realized it she had spent the whole day
So she offered to push him home since it was on the way
As they approached she notice an all too familiar scene
So she suggested they go to her house and have tea on the swing
There she found a purpose as she brought comfort to the boy
A new beginning for the life she once wanted to destroy
When she discovered he didn't have long to live she made a vow
That she would make the best of his remaining time some how
Faithfully once a week she would push him up the overpass
Because it brought him so much joy to see the cars go really fast
There are times in life we may think we don't matter anymore
But if we look we can find so many things and people to matter for
