 Carol's Journey

Occupational Health

Last Friday pain in right calf severe upon standing
I did not know how I was going to manage walking
Just hobble, words from a praying friend, with comfort
Cane in the kitchen would help give me some support

Later on went to Occupational Health at 11:00 AM
Unexpected walk-ins delayed my appointment even
Filling out paperwork, my vision was a little blurred
After that, such episodes only intermittently occurred

When doctor reviewed neck x-ray from urgent care
He determined one of the images was not very clear
I also said right rib cage was tender since night before
Neck x-ray was redone and rib cage also was explored

After four hours, those x-rays were still not satisfactory
By now mid-afternoon stomach growling I was hungry
They had sent two people who brought me out to lunch
Finally gave me orange juice and granola bar to munch

Breath alcohol test and drug screen were also performed
Results negative but standard procedure employers require
Sent to Lakeside Hospital with their digital technology
Another long day but success with clear results entirely

After eight hours of tests one night and day at three facilities
I was ready for the weekend to get more rest with my injuries
X-rays alone were tiring by standing or laying in one position
But through it all God was with me in every stage of transition

Monday spent almost two hours at agency filling out paperwork
Pages of questions related to workers comp claim injury at work
Some were hard to answer but I completed to best of my ability
By midweek, documentation submitted to insurance company

Tuesday back to Occ Health to get all three staples removed
Felt a pinch when put in but taking them out like a tooth pulled
First one had a scab and suddenly without any kind of warning
As he started to yank and tug blood began to come out gushing

He put pressure on it with gauze and cleaned up the wound
Bleeding stopped and glad when the rest was all out soon
One drop landed on same pinkish pants I wore day of injury
Coated before but cold water soak and wash, stain out in a jiffy

NOTE:  Stay tuned for Blurred Vision and Headaches
Coming sometime soon as God continues His healing from the accident
