a full hour of earnest
and chop chop

succulent pulp
vitality surges
through my blood
clears my mind
and body of the sludge.

I imagine a garden
growing in my veins.
Some day cattle might
munch on my remains
me being mostly

all fruitiness
and vegetables.

Thinking of my Mother today on the anniversary
of her birthday. How she loved her garden.
I sometimes called her Sally Tomato,
though her given name was Ann. I still love her.
