In my garden again appearing from the soil is the Praying Mantis Lilly.
It was planted in memory of Sis and her love of Lillie's, horses, and
the day she went to heaven to be with Mom. Sis was three years younger
than me and like Mom died far too young. As children we survived a cruel
world together. She handed me the gun to shoot my father although it misfired.
A gentle child she turned into a beautiful woman. She knew little fear of
danger. Most of her life was living in the shadows of abuse like me from
our drunken father. At seventeen things changed. She met the love of her
life.
Sis loved adventure. Hubby loved cars. Especially the "!965" Mustang. Made
their living selling car parts gathered through the years of Mustang cars.
But for Sis her real love was another animal. She loved horses. She had
hundreds of blue ribbons won in horse shows. For adventure she drove hubbies
car in a powder puff derby against other girls. An example of her fearless
nature she drove to the limits. At the end the brakes failed the breaking
balloon did not inflate. She sailed through the air hitting the bank. Emerged
from the car hands in air, "Beat that time girls!" That was Jeri.
Her real talent was as an artist. She drew mostly horses and cars. I would find
these tiny springlike children riding horses and she would paint them into carousels.
Like Mom she died much too young at 66. For me I was left a message. Sis died on
January 19 two days after Mom's birthday and on the very day Mom died. Jesus letting
me know he has taken two of his chosen to be with him in heaven./dandy
