 The Mistress of Word Play

Saving Grace

Dedicated to those who were injured by love. I divorced my husband Gary last year and after living alone for over a year this came. I suffered through abuse and lies. I hope this helps someone to understand the workings of a woman's heart.

She had no purpose, she was cast adrift
upon heartache's treacherous sea.
No one could her tortured spirits lift
love it seemed would never be.

Sad face, cloudy eyes, her quivering lips
empty puppet dancing across life's stage.
No one to save her as deeper she slips
pushing away all who might try to engage.

Heart buried in cement and twisted metal
steadfast during the years of useless lies.
No one would force open the flower's petal
love forsaken how her heart denies.

Yet in the madness a peace remains
it grows through rock and hardest clay.
A leaf emerges glistening in fertile grains
and believes love will return someday.
