Miracles do happen
Last year a batted ball
Flew through the helmut
of the boy in on deck circle
Stitches of the ball imprinted
The batter six foot three
Broken nose, broken jaw, three broken cheekbones
holding the eye to its socket
Eye hanging from its socket
Living became the game not baseball
Ambulance called but no time to wait
Rushed to hospital in Mom's car
Football, baseball, a thing of the past
Fast forward to this year
Reluctently painful for the boy lived for sports
Football was out but under watchful eye
He could play baseball next year
He started slow but ended hitting .417
The scouts were watching he stayed in the box
By end of season he was as good as ever
Selected as an allstar for top team in city
This fall the varsity football team wants him back
No more running back fear of concussions
Next week local newspaper doing a article
On my Grandson's remarkable recovery
He is back playing safety and special teams
This is about prayers and the poetry poem
circle of prayers you know who you are
I thank you from the bottom of my heart
For the prayers and the game goes on
