I had forgotten
That the rest
Of the Earth
Didn't know
What I did.
Sometimes that happens.
When I was a child
And my body too hot
And broken
Or swollen
My spirit would leave
And I could look down
Bodiless
Like the astronauts
On this one
Little ball of blue
White, with specs
Of green planet
Called home
Called Earth
Then come home
And I was confused
By how Russians
Wanted to blow
Us up…
All I could think of
Was that you
Can only blow
One planet up
There was
There is
No place else
For trillions of miles
We float alone
And from up there
There are no countries
There are no borders
There is no
Us and them
There is only
Us
Us humans
No…
Us Earthlings.
For even the animals
And the algae
And the smallest
Bacteria
Are all part
Of this delicate
Eco system of life.
I know this
In my gut.
I have looked down
And felt it.
I forgot Beloved
That not everyone
Knows this
In their body
As I do…
Which is why
We have storytellers
Who create fantastical
Tales
To teach us
To remember
Where we all came from
Earth.
That the idea
Of withholding
From others
When there is no
True need
Other than for
Imagined power,
For money is an
Invention of the
Imagination
As much as units
Of time or space.
Think of buying
Time shares,
And see the absurdity
Of owning
A place
Only during
A time…
There is enough
If only we could see
We are all
From the same
Earth,
And that we are all
Earthlings,
Stewards,
For a blink of an eye
In a fraction
Of eternity.
