Be kind to me so I may live,
I will be willing to forgive;
Because I hold on to His Word,
And lift up my voice to be heard.
No needs to I cover my eyes,
So I can see through the disguise;
Then I see miraculous things,
Down from Heaven that the Lord brings.
For I am a foreigner in this land,
And my steps feel like sinking sand;
So I ask that you let me see,
His commandments not hide from me.
My soul is overwhelmed with laws,
But not overburdened with flaws;
Not like arrogant people that stray,
Ignore laws and wander away.
Remove the insults and contempt,
Those others seem to be exempt;
Since I obey to the letter,
Knowing each one so much better.
I know some are trying to plot,
But I have what they wish I got;
Written laws really make me glad,
Smiles as I abide never mad.
Open my eyes so I can see,
Wondrous things given to me;
Those things that His laws will provide,
And that I am glad to abide.
