 Romantic Notions By Ivy Rose

Silent I am perched atop a tree branch
observing the twinkle in the eyes of the stars,
watch as a young couple cling to each other
and speak words of love; and listen
to the smack of lips that come together
underneath the luminous rays of a warm Moon.
My feathers gently ruffled by a Summer breeze
and my rounded eyes opened wide to see
all that tarries beneath my hidden perch.
I make my voice known with a loud hoot
"I am here, I am watching, I am listening."
But at the dawning of the morning light,
I am back in my cozy bed for one
happily dreaming of all that I have observed
when I changed from my human shape
to once again become a denizen of the night.
