THE - SCENT - OF - LAVENDER - """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" WRITTEN BY S.C.MITCHELL AUGUST 2013 The wells of man's true heart run deep - with water clear - to Only he who knows their torrent - that now has been enclosed For years - and does no longer ebb and flow - except Through faded memories - and Tears . No-one can know the heavy weight that stooping shoulders Once had borne - that leave behind a footprint of regret - and Heartache - caused by selfish gain - where loves young bloom Is blighted now - by unrequited love or shame - or Hidden thorn . Like Lavender regaled in fields - as row on row - its beauty Fills the eyes - and raptures glow - encased in perfume - Heady - ' til the senses reel - and passions raid the mind And drown the see-er in its sensuous appeal - as If entombed . Such are the longings for those yester-days of musings - when The sun would drive the clouded days away - yet now - with no Respect - as time continues on - with heavier step and aching Bones - reminders of a coming age - when youth and sight and Smell have faded - or Have gone . Of these regrets - I care for none - nor choose to own them as My own - but leave them in the deepest well - or shadowed tomb - Where only memories can play - if they so will - but now and then - I catch the scent of Lavender upon the air - and wonder briefly - as If still there - I smile - before that Too is gone . """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Life is too short to live in the past or in regrets ... so leave them in the past , and only let the fragrance of them touch your heart .
