Watching the Ships Roll Into Port

How often has a sailor stood and watched the ship roll into port?
Seeing the blue waters all around and a blue sky above him made him think of earlier days,
Recollecting his thoughts  he affirms his love of the water.
Life is not the same without the water being part of his life.
For the time has come when he had to give up the life of being on the water.
Today from a nursing facility window he is able to see the ships roll into port.
Causing him to recollect his thoughts he becomes happy and then sad for the time of him doing it are over.
Watching the ships roll into port is a treasured time for him and he will long remember his time on the water.
It is hoped the time will come when he passes away he will take one last trip out on the water.
There to be buried at sea as the comrades have done so many years ago.
