THE ONE PERCENT WHO PROTECT THE OTHER NINETY NINE PERCENT

We are who we are in life because of our own choices
Some people will go off to college to get a degree
Then move on in life to work in their chosen field

Some people are very talented in certain sports
Some will get to go to college on a scholarship
Having excelled in their chosen sport in life

Some people will choose to attend a trade school
Some may learn to fix and maintain electronics
Some may choose another career field to work in

There are many choices that one can make in life
Many of these will be very good but some are bad
With little potential or hope of supporting you

Some will go into politics or into public service
This can be good and bring you great satisfaction
There are those who will manipulate the system too

Using their position of public trust and service
They will wheel & deal to line their own pockets
Totally ignoring those they were suppose to help

Then there is that one percent of any population
Who choose to serve their nation & it's people
Defending & protecting them from the world's evil

This one percent protect the other ninety nine percent
They have this call to protect & serve the rest of us
To maintain the peace & enforce the laws of our nation

It is a thankless job where many people hate you
Then one day when they themselves become a victim
Then they suddenly want you there to save them

Whether we served as a military or civilian cop
We are the often disliked for enforcing the laws
By those who think that they are above the law

We may not have gotten a fancy degree at some big named college
or university and maybe we didn't make the large salary that all
these elites have made in their lives from their degrees or their
own chosen careers in life but we have a satisfaction that's all
our own in life, because we were part of the one percent who had
served & protected the other ninety nine percent of our nations
citizens who disliked us until that very moment they needed us.
