Poetic-Verses
'' Yes, I Am Me ''
I'll never understand the need to, 'come out''
Exactly what are you within?
Why do you feel this desire to shout?
Have you committed some heinous sin?
Like it or not we are who we are,
Though we do have the ability to change,
If you like what you see from near or afar,
Why bother to rearrange.
We care too much about what others perceive,
By telling them what they want to hear,
If it's yourself you're trying to relieve,
Then what exactly is it you fear.
If you're black or white do you feel ashamed?
Then it's time to ask yourself why,
Do you sit and ponder as to who should be blamed?
If so you are living a lie.
Are you gay or straight does it give you strife,
Though some people can be so uncouth
Don't let them destroy your entire life?
Never be afraid to admit the truth?
What religion are you does it really matter,
What you do is entirely your choice,
Eating keeps you thin while it makes some fatter,
You're alive so why not rejoice.
Perfection I'm afraid is a human dream,
How to achieve it well opinion varies,
You'll always get those who will make you scream,
But in truth they believe in fairies.
You will never please everyone all of the time,
It's truly best if you don't even try,
Don't leave yourself with a mountain to climb,
Of critics there's an endless supply.
You are what you are for that stand proud,
Don't let anyone take that away,
With an inner spirit we've all been endowed,
By ignoring it it's yourself you betray.
Now go and take a closer look my friend,
The vast majority don't really care,
By being yourself your torment will end,
Who you are is entirely your affair.
Stay true to yourself and joy will follow,
Always be who you want to be,
Those who would change you in self-pity they'll wallow,
When you tell them,
' Yes, I Am Me '
