Ceramic Heart

I’m so yesterday’s companion
It seems as though tonight
I’m stagnant
Stained by words that were so carefully placed on my door
Words that I hear but can’t understand;
I feel like you’re so close
But so far away,
So indifferent
But so similar
Like every face I’ve seen before
Everyone who’s spoken the same words,
Stenciled in my heart;
I am a mystery to even me
A wanderer searching to be free
I’m an excuse to use this moment to leave
For an hour, for a day-
Time away to use up all the insecurities that eat me;
Just me, an identity on your wall of names.
