The Small Corsage

Years ago when I was about eleven years of age, I had a desire to give something for Mother's Day.
We had a small rose bush alongside of the front porch.
From that rose bush I picked some of the buds from it and gave them to a friend.
The friend made Mom a corsage of the small rosebuds.
After taking it home with me I was so pleased and so proud of giving it to Mom.
She took it from me and smelt of the roses then laid up on a dresser.
You see Mom didn't much go in for the corsage to wear it though she was happy to get it.
I will always remember this is what we did year after year.
Was a gift that  Mom welcomed but would hardly ever wear.
