Doomsday predictions are such common fare
They pop up any and almost everywhere
This one or that one creates a sensation
With what they claim as divine revelation
Men still set dates for Christ’s return.
When it doesn’t happen then too late we learn
That false prophets and prophecies really exist…
This is just one more date they’ve mistakenly missed.
Popes and preachers all throughout the past
Have called an apocalyptic time that was trashed.
Fools like Charles Manson, just one in a few,
Predicted a race war would bring the end through.
Reverend Jim Jones led hundreds astray
With visions he claimed of a holocaust day.
In the year 2000 Y2K posed a threat.
And Harold Camping has not got the right date straight yet.
The truth is no man knows the day or the hour.
There is only One who lays claim to such power.
To be sure, in spite of the futile supposes,
Christ will return as the Bible discloses.
Those who are ready have nothing to fear…
If it happens today or in some future year...
But it won’t be a doomsday for those who know Christ
Because we’re still assured His Grace will suffice!!

~~AUTHOR'S NOTE~~
A conversation with a certain person led me to write
this poem. That he was a scoffer was plain...and he
reminded me of the many predictions of an end to the
world and how they had all failed. But that's because
men try to re-write the Bible...we were told (by Jesus)
that no man would know the hour...that's not hard for
me to understand. That He is returning is no doubt...God
doesn't lie...but, unfortunely men do...and have caused
unbelief in a sure thing. I don't worry about when He
will return...I'm only very certain He will.
Matthew 24:36
King James Version (KJV)
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no,
not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Acts 1:7
King James Version (KJV)
And he said unto them, It is not for you
to know the times or the seasons, which
the Father hath put in his own power.
2 Peter 3:9-10
King James Version (KJV)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering
to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief
in the night; in the which the heavens shall
pass away with a great noise, and the elements
shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also
and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
