Halloween arriving on a clear starlit night
In a circle of family sharing the sight
For the hills around Lake Chelan
They were ablaze and on fire
As the night went on the flames went higher
And there was fear in the orange moon light
Was that a witch flying in the night?
Or just imagination of minds in flight?
Candle light and a Beatle cover
For on this night around the deck the Butcher cover
Yesterday and Today would there be no tomorrow?
The meek fightened blanket and heavy cover
For all around them ghosts and goblins did hover
Each child brave enough told of nightmare stories
The bravest of men in the candles of light
Dark smoke filled and covered the yellowed moon
Someone from the crowd heard clattering of a heavy spoon
Inside on a record player spun a Halloween song
Some said it was the Grateful Dead they were wrong
"Wake up to my Nightmare!" Alice Cooper did scream
And then from a voice heard but not seen
"I well eat your Grandpa for I am mean!"
"Enough of this!" My Grandson boldly said,
"For Ghosts and goblims as everyone knows are vegetarian!"
For they eat garlic, brocollin and Punkins
And he added with a grin, "So scarey, this is the end!"
It is a family thing to gather around the fire and tell stories. That this happened we were at Lake Chelan and there was a forrest fire nearby.
As told it did light up the sky. The Vegetarian thing came from my Grandson's mouth and we all had to laugh. Our family has a humerios side
and it includes the kids.
