Ceramic Heart

I have seen you in the light of day,
The morning sun against your face,
The beginning of a happiness, I can't begin to know;
A love too fragile to withstand
The ever changing boughs,
A life too lived to understand
You didn't need me then, as you don't also now.
I have seen you in the afternoon
Among the changing of the tides
Drawing circles in the sand
Remembering when you were mine.

I have seen you in the evening,
The full moon rushing your hair
My heart, bursting with contentment,
For nothing do I care
But had I known your fallacy,
Had I known your truth,
I would have saved my heart ache
I could have saved my youth.
You know I would have followed you
To the golden shores and back
Now I beg only of you to return this love you lack.
