Lipstick Tales
I leave a small trace of myself
on whomever, whatever
I
touch.
I cure the palest of face.
Often, I'm replaced,
but rarely ever
forgotten.
Going out on the town
without me
is verboten.
I match both black silk,
cool white cotton.
I easily slip
into concealed dark,
small places.
Aid the wearers of smiles,
Paint on them much brighter faces.
I change, am
so changeable.
I was the first bite of
vivid color she
desired and
sought.
(Whether dime store purchase
or counter-bought.)
Intimate and smooth.
Luscious and I prove
I am able
to stand out or out-match.
With me her sparkling
blue eyes crackle
and snap.
I'm the Factor
alluring the romance
and natural disaster
on a handsome man's collar
or on his stubbly face.
I seal the Vamp-stamp
hot blooded reputation
of the feminine race.
Tah-dah!
Oomph-pah-pah-pah...
Put another notch
on her well-traveled
and worn
lipstick
case.
