Sometimes love seems like the real thing.
It grabs your heart strings and tugs,
it holds you spellbound in a haze
and draws you closer to a spider's web
tangles up, binds, gives food for fodder.

Sometimes love is an outright sham.
It never finds a place to grow roots,
it sweetens with honey yet stings like a bee
and makes you believe in fool's gold
mines with ease, conceals, offers a heart of fraud.

Sometimes love is lifetime strong
It stands in dark places and gives light,
it holds you up when your knees collapse
and keeps you closer when everything is wrong
emboldens, empowers, it forever stands.

Sometimes love is like a gentle breeze.
It comes into your heart on widespread wings,
it carries you to places where dreams live
and transports your heart to new horizons
