Scars

A story behind each one
I may or may not tell you
You weren't there
to stop and dare
change the direction
of the fist, you weren't there
to see what would happen next.

Scars never go away
they have a purpose to stay
a constant reminder that
at some other time someone
else may
do the same to me
another episode of hit, hurt
and betray.
Scars never go away.

The hitting is done but the memories
do not fade. Part of me died and was buried
in a hidden grave-
where only Jesus can visit
and be the balm to my wounds.

Jesus knows about scars...mine, others
and His own.

Thomas needed to see the scars in order
to believe, but scars and wounds
don't stop at the surface.

The deepest scars made by another person,
cannot be seen by another eye...they
are only known by Jesus.
