 once upon a time

On that night I heard the bell tolling
I knew in my heart it was your last farewell
I didn’t cry as I listened to the echoes of the bell
It was as if you had kissed me goodbye.
How could I cry, knowing in my heart, that now
you were free from cancer:, resting in heaven.
Though on the days and nights to come, when i
Hear the bell tolling I shall sigh, and kiss you goodbye.
Nine years have flitted by never once whenever I hear
the bells toll have I not paused, kissed your memory
though always I wish you were by my side, but Liz, that
is my selfishness, I know one day in heaven we will kiss once again.
