My Childhood

My Childhood

I was born into a loving family
I was one of seven children
Everyone pampered me a lot
Because I was the youngest

My father was a famous lawyer
He stopped going to court
Because he had a stroke
And he became house bound

We decided to entertain him
All my friends come to my home and
We danced for many hours
We sang songs & entertained my father

He recovered very quickly
He enjoyed each minute with us
I am sure the music and dance
Helped him to recover quickly

He started going to the court
Suddenly one day morning
He complained of stomach upset
That evening he died of heart attack.

I was only seven years old
I did not know what happened
I saw many people come to our house.
I did not understand what has happened

When my elder brother told me
We will not be able to see father
I asked him a lot of questions
By hearing the answers I felt sad.

I missed my father
Because he was my friend
He was my teacher and guru
I felt very lonely

I played alone & talked to myself
My mother often wondered
Who am I talking too?
She questioned me many times
I told her I am talking to myself.

One day my mother became sick
And she was taken to the hospital
I felt very sad and lonely again

I went to school and then to hospital
That became my routine.
I often thought about my good days
When my father was alive

I felt like I was an orphan
Because my brothers and sisters
Had their own families & children
No one to live with me and
Most of the time I was all alone

One day I was very unhappy
I went and told my mother
That I feel like I am an orphan
By hearing this, mother was very sad

My mother called my sister and
Asked to take me to their home.
I stayed in my sister's home
My eldest sister become my mother,

I often think about my childhood
I wonder what type of childhood I had
Whether it was a good or bad childhood
I still do not know
The doubt continues even now.
