A Christ centered maturity
Is what God wants for His child.
No longer ruled by circumstance
Or in worldly ways defiled.
There comes a time when babes in Christ
Must grow up in the Lord.
Like the prodigal, our consciences
May just need to be jarred.
Decisions should be made to not
Speak ill of one another…
Or entertain unrighteous thoughts
Toward a sister or a brother.
Does it matter to our Father
When we criticize someone?
When we talk behind somebody’s back
Do we imitate His Son?
Even when we feel we’re justified
We cannot harbor hate.
And anger and resentment
Should never dress a Christian’s plate.
Is forgiveness a priority??
For the sake of Christ, must be!!
Didn’t He forgive our every sin
When He died upon that tree?
Wisdom, knowledge, understanding
Are the true signs of our growth.
It’s a study in the Word of God…
Not just scriptures one may quote.
Maturity can be defined
By truthfulness in love.
The Word cannot be compromised
When directed by The Dove.
Ask secret sins to be revealed
When seeking our Lord’s face…
Rejoice in His amazing love…
All His mercy and His Grace.

~~Author’s Note~~
When we ask the Holy Spirit to search our
hearts and reveal these hidden sins so that we
may repent, we have begun to mature in the
spirit. We may stumble in our attitude toward
others, but when we do, if we repent and
determine to do better with God’s help, then
we will begin to pass from “glory to glory as by
the Spirit of the Lord”.
We also grow spiritually when we make a
commitment to understand the Word of
God for ourselves, not just to believe what
others may tell us:
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit will teach
us all things, but that we must ask in faith. We
need to realize that our Bible reading is not
just a daily exercise, but an opportunity to
hear from the Holy Spirit through the Word
of God. Whether reading or listening, it takes
the Holy Spirit to show us what the true
meaning of God’s Word is so that we do not
fall prey to error.
Matthew 15:11
“Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man;
but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
Ephesians 4: 12-15
That we should no longer be children, tossed to
and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness
of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love,
may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—
Proverbs 24:3
Through wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
