'' Their Takeover We Cannot Forestall ''

Those messages we've been sending have now been heard,
The aliens are now on their way,
With how many races has our contact been shared?
Truth is we just cannot say.

Decades of signals travelling billions of miles,
How many aliens have been listening in,
Different portrayals so many human styles,
None will know where to begin.

Mr. Ed the horse may have given them a laugh,
War shows and westerns will have them worried,
Showing humans as brutal could well be a gaffe,
As our demise at their hands could be hurried.

From television alone they'll know we are lying,
As voyagers message does say we love peace,
The way we destroy others they'll think we love dying,
As the fact is our wars never cease.

It could well turn out they're more brutal than us,
So why send our details into space,
Talking peace to each other causes us such a fuss,
That's the nature of the human race.

In our world we don't know the meaning of trust,
Deceit and secrecy are usually the norm,
What we do to each other is so unjust,
The aliens will know it's so true to form.

If they're so intelligent they can travel to Earth,
Who's to say they don't war with each other,
Our crass stupidity could come home to berth,
Our universal ambitions they could smother.

To what we have here they could well aspire,
But in our wisdom we said give us a call,
Now for our planet they've expressed their desire,
