MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

 photo f6e311ab-bebd-4300-ac57-d68ce4b70071_zps63378f37.jpg

~~~TO A DEAR FRIEND,
JANET IRENE GRIFFIN,
I LOVINGLY DEDICATE THIS  POEM~~~
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in pure white
Astounding beauty, my heart’s delight
Though prickly-thorned humbly endure
Burning fondly, His great love assures
His pierced hands open and ready to embrace
Blessed be Jesus and His most amazing grace
He patiently awaits those who seek of Him
Jesus, the brilliant light that shines from within,
From being broken, we are made whole,
Receiving His gift of salvation to one and all.
"Lifted high on the cross,
Christ gave His life for us,
So much did He love us.
From His wounded side flowed blood and water,
The fountain of sacramental life in the Church.
To His open side the Savior invites all men,
To draw water in joy from the springs of salvation" (The Roman Missal).
The flow of water and blood from the Pierced Heart of Jesus also reminds us of our Lord’s words regarding the source of salvation in His Heart:
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me,
Let him drink who believes in Me."
Our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus leads us to remember always the many ways in which Christ has poured out and continues to pour out His love for us in the Church from the moment of His death on the cross.1
"Heart of Jesus, substantially united to the Word of God." It is to His own Heart that Christ refers in the Gospels: "My heart goes out to My people" (Mt 15:31); and "Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light" (Mt 11:28-29).
"I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment" (Jesus to St. Margaret Mary).
