Another Holiday Memory

Mom was always the one who prepared the meals.
I was able to sometime later take over the kitchen duties.
But the happiest times was when Mom was the one making the days brighter by fixing the meals.
I remember so well the time of Christmas we had been given the turkey and the ham.
Was a special time for Mom to fix them both and having added the other things like the collards Mom prepared.
All was very good and so very special was the occasion.
The gifts were under the tree.
Gifts that meant something to all of us were there for my brother and myself.
Dad and Mom had saved all year for our time of Christmas.
We were able to get all the things we wanted.
One of the gifts was a Bible for which I chose the Revised Standard Version.
My brother had a Bible given to him as well with it being a King James.
This is only part of the gifts we got that year.
Dad and Mom were in the background and really didn't expect anything from us.
Years later we made up for it though with some positive things to offer.
These were the great times of our lives and it was another holiday memory for us to share.
