Bora born
Bush mechanic _
The car he run
well sort of just
the trouble is
the fuel won't suck
when you're above
one thousand feet
up the gillies
your heart skips beats.
Healies lookout
just seems the place
where it happens
to slacken pace
the fuel pump sucks
the best it can
but still empties
as if to plan.
No side lanes there
to move into
just barriers
to crash right through.
Two lane highway
is all you get
up the mountain
so place your bets.
In downtown Cairns
the other day
it just got worse
so sad to say.
On a U turn
it coughed then spat
so pulled over
one space was left.
In a driveway
off to the side
it came to stop
some room beside
the sign that read
no parking here
you're towed away
so just keep clear.
Room a plenty
off to the side
so left it there
nothing to hide
Then next morning
I felt so slack
two tyres were down
one front one back.
Both caps missing
not hard to find
who's the culprit
of this sad crime.
A pretest note
was duely wrote
the mailbox drop
a sticky note.
The problem solved
I'm glad to say
a new fuel pump
bought the next day.
Electric pumps
more freely flow
so to walsh's
the way to go.
Bought one cheal then
wired it in, so
up the mountain
to try again.
As if on que
it coughed and rocked
the new pump failed
I kid you not.
One day later
at walshies place
the pump exchanged
face saving grace.
Wired it in then
off we went, back
up the mountain
was luck still bent.
Blessing given
it held this time
without a doubt
it still runs fine.
Like a heartbeat
it thumps away
just waiting for
that fateful day.
Which just happened
two weeks later
is this fuel tank
full of sugar.
Or dirty fuel
where water blends
certainly not
the filter's friend.
