Poetic-Verses

'' Make Sure You Are There''

We taught our children to learn about life,
Any questions ask me or the wife,
Failure to do so could lead to strife,
Not to could lead to despair.

Our children asked us to teach them to read,
Of their request I didn't pay any heed,
Their appetite for knowledge this did impede,
I should have taken more care.

Our children wanted us to tell them a story,
One about honour and of glory,
I told them both it was far too gory,
Their future this could impair.

Our children requested lessons on a bike,
I immediately said go take a hike,
My reaction to them they didn't like,
They said you're not being fair.

Our children wanted me to teach them to drive,
They said it would help their careers to thrive,
I told them I'd rather they survive,
They said I was driving them spare.

Our children like others need to learn,
Things like respect you need to earn,
I'm really only showing concern,
From danger they need to beware.

When our children asked us to go for a walk,
Of our relationship they had to take stock,
This rebellion came as a terrible shock.
Our relationship we had to repair.

They told me we'd taught them always to ask,
That way they could learn any task,
But in ignorance we were leaving them to bask,
They said you're both full of hot air.

Children are our future they need to be taught,
A good education cannot be bought,
A friendly ear was all that they sought,
When asked questions,
