A Bleak Thanksgiving Day Remembered

One year the times were so rough for us we had no turkey for the holiday.
We, Dad and I, had gone to see a friend of his for the purpose of getting some help, financially.
There was the wife who wasn't able to do anything for us but to offer something from their table.
We had to decline and was about to leave.
When the man reached into his wallet and pulled out a few bills.
The amount wasn't enough to cover the meal we wanted but we received the money with the promise to reimburse.
Where we found the help we needed was from a restaurant's owner.
He made provisions for us to eat there and pay him later.
The holiday turned out to be a memorable one for I am disclosing to you now the events.
The Lord was thanked for the provisions as was the owner.
It was the only thing that saved the day from being a bad memory.
