Behind My Back
I saw you on the street
but you looked the other way.
You didn't give me a chance
nor listen to what I had to say.
I wondered what had happened
to make you act with hate.
I didn't know what I had done
when my innocence was great.
I tried to figure out my flaw
and why you were not there.
You wouldn't even talk to me
and your actions were unfair.
I may never know the problem
that turned feelings to stone.
It would be nice if you would talk
and make your reasons known.
All I can do is think and guess
and assume what may be wrong.
You cannot break my heart
because not knowing makes me strong.
Make it known in decent terms
and don't hide without a word.
I'm not a part of your gossip train
because there's a lot I haven't heard.
Nobody tells me what goes on
behind my back each passing day.
I can let it go and be just fine
while you walk the other way.
