giving is a lesson in learning how to receive (gratitude)

discovering the light
sifting through
hope's rays

the need for the fight
to live
came back, re-entered
my heart
when another chose to give

why I was deserving
mattered not
but it was, rather
what I wrought

a shining new chance
to be a better version
of the person I was

thank you,
dear stranger

I no longer feel
so alone.

gratitude practice
