'' My God She Looks Really Well ''

Why are we obsessed by our appearance?
To look good does take perseverance,
Bad comments are just interference,
Let them all go rot in Hell.

Give your critics what is the cold shoulder,
Beauty does belong to the beholder,
Don't ever let your anger smoulder,
On their comments you must never dwell.

Throughout the stresses and the strife,
Looking good is our main aim in life,
If you choose to go under the knife,
It's guaranteed you will look swell.

As we age life gets even harder,
Then you start to lose your ardour,
You must live by an empty larder,
Or your body will start to rebel.

Cosmetic allergies start to abound,
Anti histamines cannot be found,
Even your teeth can no longer be crowned,
Your hatred you find hard to quell.

You then suffer from invisible pains,
Your skin becomes marked with stains,
Out from your legs come varicose veins,
In excess weight you now excel.

Those sleek outfits no longer fit,
Certain smells you now omit,
It's your false teeth that you now grit,
Heading south you cannot repel.

Those tight jeans are now in the past,
To get them on you'll need to fast,
A look in the mirror leaves you aghast,
The facts you cannot dispel.

Soon the children are calling you Gran,
A glance at Hubby and you wished you'd ran,
For he is now that sad old man,
Who like you is ringing Heavens bell.

Looks when young are so easy to abuse,
With that body you just couldn't lose,
Now as I look at my wrinkled tattoos,
My future I don't want to foretell.

It is truly the scourge of humanity,
Which will eventually lead to insanity,
The subject I refer to is of course vanity,
Where in Gods name is my gel.

Peace at last as I'm placed in my coffin,
What a lovely piece to be carried off in,
Then comes a comment from my sister the boffin,

‘' My God She Looks Really Well ‘'
