Haunted Sleep

Haunted-eyes

They haunt her when all is quiet
Those soft amber browns
They look through her again
As if to question bounds
Time of precious droplets left
His footprints on her heart
Her sinking soul kept falling
From time and miles apart
Days of pale reminders keep
Through old letters she saved
Tears, like mist that cling to leaves
She’ll carry to her grave
She loves him so much
As far as canyons depth
She wonders painfully
How many tears she’s wept
Memories of gifted love
Once kept her warm at night
Freedom of sweet butterflies
Brought nightmares full of fright
For she sees the chains that hold
His ultimate, His all
Sin has been sweet sacrifice
Like landslide, sure to fall
Stolen chance upon the day
Brought whispered words to keep
Fear that ripped her heart in two
Now found a home in sleep

Soul!
