'' Please Let It Be ''
As the curtain draws down on another year,
On this poignant day we shed a tear?
Try to rejoice the fact you're still here,
Positivity is the key.
We think of the ones we love who have left,
To those left behind it's a form of theft,
But they wouldn't want you feeling bereft,
Move on would be their heartfelt plea.
Time's not a healer it just eases the pain,
Asking yourself if, will drive you insane,
From what might have been you need to refrain,
You're becoming an absentee.
Dwelling on the past only drags you down,
Pick yourself up and lift that frown,
The truth is in sorrow you will only drown,
Your future you need to foresee.
There are family and friends, who want you near,
Seeing you hurting really does sear,
They want your pain to disappear,
You're but a branch on a very large tree.
Destroying your life will not bring them back,
It's not just your mind that's under attack,
Give a warm smile your face won't crack,
On what's ahead you all need to agree.
Lift yourself up from the depths of despair,
Blaming yourself and others is so unfair,
Take the blinkers off and see those who care,
Do not make life a melee.
Treasure the memories of those who have passed,
Think of the good things they have amassed,
Thoughts of times shared will forever last,
They would want you to set them free.
Life can be tough but it's time to move on,
Sympathy for those passed will never be withdrawn,
Make this day the start of a brand new dawn,
Those gone would say,
' Please Let It Be '
