There is no tree or candle light
Or home cooked meals lean appetites
So much truth about their world
As body fades in card box curls
Once they lived a life like you
Hard pressed, seeking just one breakthrough
Falling short, they fell away
Away from life, barely this day
Sheltered from the elements
They break of bread in make shift tents
A place called home with mobile bed
The end of roads, the worn, unfed
Here is Christmas theirs alone
No mistletoe or warmth of home
No place to bathe the grime or grit
Or shared moments of unwrapped gifts
Low esteem has taken toll
Of life, of peace and near soul sold
Lend a hand a coin or two
Pray beyond your doorsteps too
Joy to the world becomes of you
If you'd take time to help one through
The gift unseen is you who brings
A song of sorts from heart that sings
That love came down and brought you there
As GOD brought good of yours to share
A brief moment, a minute yours
A word of warmth, to help endure
