The countdown begins as the year slips away
A better year ahead is what people pray,
Hours to minutes then only seconds remain
People gather round and form a chain.
Big ben will chime and bells will ring out
Horns will blow and people cheer and shout,
Ring out the old year and ring in the new
Let`s hope it`s a good one through and through.
A new beginning is what people think
When forming a circle their arms they link,
They sing Auld Lang Syne and a few tears fall
When their missing loved one`s they recall.
So `Happy New Year` to one and all
With happy memories for you to recall,
