connecting synapses across  miles and millennia

an impostor
sometimes
would you believe

I hide behind words
and let them speak for me

no one sees
nor scans my countenance
for the subtle teachings
of emotion

forced to read between
the letters
for my meaning
the reader
sometimes grasps
other times
not so well

yet
I'm satisfied
with the words
my well-chosen runes
mapping out
my puzzle

let others come to me
and do the surmising

in return
I'll give them
the same courtesy

poetry is creator
of more than verse

it can jump-start
an infinitely satisfying
conversation

connecting synapses
across miles
and millennia.
