Poetic-Verses
'' Then You Ask Why I Get Annoyed ''
My best pal and I grew up together,
We were truly the best of friends,
We lived our youth hell for leather,
A true friendship never ends.
When we left school I started to work,
My mate decided to skive,
He said to me you must be a jerk,
While you're slogging I still survive.
I then joined the pension scheme,
To help me when I retire,
What my mate was doing made me scream,
He had little or no desire.
As the years moved on I bought a house,
It was truly my pride and joy,
Then I met my beautiful spouse,
We had a girl and then a boy.
We worked through hardship and the pain,
We had to just to exist,
My mate then said you must be insane,
From hitting him I had to desist.
He had a house and a family too,
With all the comforts of home,
Paid for he said entirely by you,
Yes even my shaving cream and comb.
I pay no council tax or any rent,
I get it all for free,
We live a life that's so content,
You the taxpayers look after me.
As I got older my health then failed,
A care home was the only decision,
The plan of action was then unveiled,
I greeted it with derision.
My house was sold to pay for my keep,
In effect I had nothing left,
Taking my pension made me weep,
My working life had left me bereft.
On my first day there I met my mate,
The work shy layabout started to rave,
This never working is bloody great,
I'm paid for from cradle to grave.
I worked all my life while he did not,
He was through choice unemployed,
Working has cost me everything I've got,
' Then You Ask Why I Get Annoyed '
