Poetic-Verses

'' So He Left  It  All To Me ''

My Grandfather who is a wise old man,
Overheard a conversation,
His children were trying to hatch a plan,
Which did not fill him with elation.

They were dividing up his worldly goods,
Right down to his fireside logs,
All of his land beside the woods,
Before he had popped his clogs.

The home he shared with his beautiful wife,
The money they'd worked hard to earn,
When she passed he lived with the strife,
Their attitude gave him cause for concern.

It's our inheritance they were heard to say,
That really fuelled his ire,
What's mine is mine and here it will stay,
To keep it I still have a desire.

But what you've accrued will be ours they said,
That is our basic right,
My Grandad replied let's put this to bed,
I think it's time you all seen the light.

If you work really hard and toil with a will,
You'll not need to depend on others,
Looking upon your parents as a financial pill,
Well ambition it ultimately smothers.

Treating me as an asset does not augur well,
You are truly the scum of the Earth,
For that I condemn you to a life of Hell,
That's where your souls will berth.

His siblings were shocked and really annoyed,
They had truly been put in their place,
Their future plans had been destroyed,
They said Dad you're an utter disgrace.

Disgrace he replied you've seen nothing yet,
No I am not deranged,
Accept this as fact it is not a threat,
As from now you are classed as estranged.

He said in life it's for oneself one fends,
So now I'm dying I can guarantee,
It's too late now to make amends,
