Fear's Test

Little fears and uncertainties
unravel in my mind,
in my daily journey,
uneven all the time
Little cracks will take their toll
upon life's rutted way,
to give me strength and courage,
immediately I pray

You will never understand
the angst that I feel,
or ever sense the urgency
in my prayer appeal
My set of strengths and boundaries
are different than yours,
And you'll never understand
how fierce my cowardice roars

Please don't ever shame me,
for my weak and human way
I don't profess perfection
to set upon display
I am only what I am, and that is
as grateful as I can be,
for making through the challenges
that always come to me

And maybe you have your own ghosts
that haunt your daily life;
and maybe you hide so well those things
that, to you, bring your strife
And maybe I could find this
as your truth, finally, be told
Or maybe you're the bravest of brave,
the boldest of the bold

In every flaw, in every crack
the light can shine within,
to erase the dark, dispel the doubt
and take away my sin
I greet each challenge with fear,
but with it my faith renew,
and revel in it's completion
that I have gotten through

Little fears and uncertainties
unravel in my mind,
in my daily journey,
uneven all the time
And whether you mock my fear
or profess to know what's best,
just know it wasn't easy;
yet I have passed my test
