O Lord, You examined me,
You know me as well as can see;
When I get up and I sit down,
If I smile or wear a frown.
You read my thoughts from far away,
Know when I am about to stray;
You see when I leave and come back,
Knows what I got and what I lack.
You know when I have done my best,
When I have been given a test;
And when I rest you help me sleep,
So at morning dawn I can leap.
You are familiar with my ways,
My normal routine all my days;
Even before I say one word,
But Your ears have already heard.
You are all around here and there,
Because You are everywhere;
I feel You lay Your hand on me,
To comfort me from what I see.
Much knowledge is beyond my grip,
You help me so I do not slip;
Something so high out of my reach,
But You know how so You can teach.
I will give thanks unto my Lord,
Not letting Your voice be ignored;
Abiding by what you will say,
Because I will trust and obey.
Your eyes saw before I was born,
As well as where now I sojourn;
Just as You see when I am gone,
Where there is a continual dawn.
